The Saffron Problem
Most people destroy saffron's delicate compounds by dropping the threads directly into hot milk or food.
The Right Method
1. Crush gently with your fingers — never grind
2. Bloom in warm water (not boiling) for 15 minutes
3. Add the whole infusion — water and all — to your dish
Verification
Real Kashmiri saffron releases a deep red-orange colour but the threads themselves stay red, not white or yellow at the base.
Storage
Keep saffron in an airtight glass container, away from light. Properly stored, it lasts 2+ years without losing potency.
